Alvin L. White

February 5, 1940 — August 9, 2017

Alvin Leroy White, son of Calvin R. and Florence (Wilcoxson) White, was born February 5, 1940, at Jewell County, Kansas, one of three children.

He began school at Smith Center, Kansas. After the family moved to Nemaha, Nebraska, Alvin attended school there, graduating from Nemaha High School in 1959.

On July 31, 1958, Alvin married Nancy Smith at Beloit, Kansas. They became parents of three children, Lori Christine, Karla Jean, and Brian Leroy.

In 1960 Alvin joined his father in the dozing business and in 1965 began farming as well, living on a farm north of Nemaha. He started working as a crop hail adjuster in 1989 and continued doing this for 15 years. Alvin and Nancy moved to Rock Port, Missouri, in 1998 where he worked at various part-time jobs.

He was baptized in 1963 by Rev. Mark Zimmerman at Nemaha Christian Church, and was presently a member of Linden Christian Church, Rock Port, Missouri.

Alvin enjoyed fishing, playing golf, crossword puzzles, watching football, cards, and woodworking, but his greatest joy was being Granddad and Great-Granddad to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alvin passed away August 9, 2017, at his home in Auburn, Nebraska, after a period of declining health.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant granddaughter Jennifer Elayne Shaw, and sister Evelyn Anderson.
