Barbara Bolen

Barbara Kay (Betts) Bolen, one of four children of Robert A. and Lillian G. ?Jeep? (Byrom) Betts, was born July 16, 1943 in Auburn, Nebraska. As her family moved around, Barbara received her education at several schools.

In December of 1959 Barbara was united in marriage to Robert Dean Reed in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple lived in and around Omaha and in Nemaha, Nebraska. They were blessed with two sons. After Bob?s passing, Barbara was married to Daniel W. Bolen on January 24, 1987 in Omaha. She welcomed Daniel?s four children into her heart. Barbara and Daniel lived in Waterloo, Nebraska and then Edwards, Missouri, in the Ozarks, until Daniel?s passing in 2001. Barbara returned to Auburn to live in 2002.

Barbara worked as a manager for First Data Corporation in Omaha for many years. While in the Ozarks she worked as a cook at the Holiday Hills Marina.

In 2009 Barbara was baptized at the Brock Christian Church in Brock, Nebraska and became a member of the church. She had belonged to the Rebekah Lodge in the Ozarks. Through her life she enjoyed bowling, golf, bow hunting, horseback riding, and crocheting.

Barbara was killed in an accident near her home outside of Auburn on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 11 days. Her parents, both husbands, and son Dean preceded her in death.

Those left to mourn her passing include her children Scott Reed of Anamosa, IA; Jerry and wife Bev Bolen of Ft. Calhoun, NE; Teresa Bolen of Missouri; Natalie and husband Roger Jureck of Blair, NE; Clayton and wife Kristy Bolen of Ft. Calhoun, NE; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers Lyle Betts of New Market, IA; Bob Betts and friend Becky of Omaha; sister Wanda and husband Jim Reed of Brock; other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, March 5, 11:00 a.m. at the Brock Christian Church. No visitation is planned.
