Bette Boellstorff

Bette Frances (Klaasmeyer) Boellstorff, daughter of John H. and Ruby A. (Sargent) Klaasmeyer, was born July 27, 1940 in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Bette started her schooling at country school near Douglas, Nebraska for a couple of years and then attended school at Salem, Nebraska through the 7th grade. She then went to the Brock Public Schools, where she graduated from high school. Bette also attended Peru State College.

On February 21, 1960 Bette was wed to Daniel Boellstorff in the Talmage Christian Church in Talmage, Nebraska. They would be blessed with four children: Leslie, Todd, Tyson, and Carrie. Bette and Daniel made their home on a farm near Brock, Nebraska.

Early in her life Bette was a telephone operator for Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph and later worked as a hospice caregiver, but her focus was always on her family and working as a partner with Daniel on the farm.

Bette had been a member of the Johnson Woman?s Club and the Heritage Needlework Guild in Nebraska City, and also served on the Johnson-Brock Board of Education from 1978 to 1984. She enjoyed sewing and was knowledgeable on sewing machine history. Bette liked to collect antiques, and her flower gardens bloomed throughout the growing season. She loved to ?road trip? and meet people, but once again her primary focus was on family and her grandkids.

After experiencing a period of ill health and then rebounding, Bette was rushed to St. Mary?s Hospital on the night of Tuesday, December 18, 2012. It was there and that day she passed away at the age of 72 years, 4 months, and 21 days. Her mother Ruby and sister-in-law Frances Napier preceded her in death.

Bette is survived by her husband Daniel of rural Brock; children and spouses Leslie and Robert Reed of Lincoln; Todd and Ann Boellstorff of Douglas; Tyson and Tanya Boellstorff of Ashland; Carrie and Fred Knapp of Lincoln; grandchildren Jessie Reed, Rachel Boellstorff, Rebecca Boellstorff and husband Matt Bertrand, Abigail Boellstorff, Christopher and Calvin Knapp; step-grandsons Andronik Kocharov and wife Sarah, George Kocharov; father John Klaasmeyer of Tecumseh; sisters and spouses Ardis and Dan Gauchat of Johnson; Karla and Wayne Bomar of Maryville, MO; brothers and spouses John Klaasmeyer, Jr of Forest City, MO; Charles and Kathleen Klaasmeyer of Miller, MO; Dennis Klaasmeyer of Eudora, KS; Michael and Marilyn Klaasmeyer of Eudora, KS; brothers-in-law and spouses Jim and Marie Boellstorff of Marshalltown, IA; Douglas and Kay Boellstorff of Lincoln; John Boellstorff of Brock; Dave Napier of Canfield, CA; family friend Rhonda Hall of Johnson; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 22, 10:30 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in Grant Evergreen Cemetery near Talmage. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
