Evelyn P. Lotter

Evelyn Pearl (McConnaughey) Lotter, one of two daughters of Edwin Lee and Velma Pearl (Vosberg) McConnaughey, was born December 23, 1934 on the bottoms near Peru, Nebraska. She grew up in Peru, and attended school there.
On July 22, 1950 Evelyn was married to Donald Lotter in Hiawatha, Kansas. They made their home near Peru, and eight children were born to their union: Robert, Mary, Ron, Gary, Nancy, Debra, Rebecka, and Terry.
In addition to her duties as a homemaker and raising her children, Evelyn held jobs at various locations in the area. She had worked in the Peru State College cafeteria, as a packager at Excel Beef Packing in Phelps City, Missouri, and as an inspector at the King Louie clothing factory in Auburn, Nebraska.
In the little spare time Evelyn had, she loved to keep her yard looking nice, and grew a garden as well. She enjoyed fishing with her family, and loved to go dancing.
When her health declined and she was no longer able to stay at her home, Evelyn became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn in March of 2009. She made the best of her time there, taking advantage of the activities offered.
Evelyn passed away at Good Sam on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 18 days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald, son Robert Donald, daughter Rebecka Ruth, and sister Edna Mae Baker.
Evelyn is survived by her children Mary Herr and husband Irwin of Table Rock; Ron Lotter of Auburn; Gary Lotter of Peru; Nancy Core and husband Rick of Peru; Debra Wostrel and husband Eldon of Elkhorn; Terry Lotter and wife Janice of Falls City; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service, held Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, was officiated by Patti Jo Mullins. Sharon Schuster sang special songs, and pre-recorded music was also played. Casket bearers were Dillon Lotter, Shawn Lotter, Scottie Sherman, Brandon Lotter, Travis Lotter, and Shane Sherman. Honorary bearers were Brady Lotter, Troy Lotter, Cody Lotter, Curtis Tackett, and Jeff Lotter. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Peru.
