Margaret L. Williamson

January 1, 1916 — May 14, 2016

Margaret Landers (Casey) Williamson, one of seven children of Madison Lee and Jane (Clarke) Casey, was born January 1, 1916, in the family home in Johnson, Nebraska. She attended school in Johnson, graduating from high school in 1933. Margaret then attended Peru State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate.

Margaret taught for two years in Washington Rural School, saving money to move to Lincoln, Nebraska and enroll in Lincoln School of Commerce. After graduating from there, she was employed at Continental National Bank in Lincoln. She worked there for six years, and met her future husband Kenneth Williamson at the bank.

On May 10, 1941, Margaret married Kenneth in Lincoln. They lived for a time in Lincoln and then Fort Bragg, North Carolina, before moving to Johnson. They lived in the house where Margaret was born, and she would continue to live most of the rest of her life there. The couple was blessed with two children, Kay and Bruce.

In 1948 Margaret went to work at the First National Bank in Johnson. She would remain at the bank for 34 years, retiring in 1982 as Assistant Cashier and Head of the Savings Department.

Margaret was a lifetime member of the Johnson United Methodist Church. She was a 50+ year member of Trestleboard Chapter #67, Order of the Eastern Star in Brock, Nebraska. Margaret was always very involved in the community she loved, belonging to the Johnson Cemetery Organization, Johnson American Legion Auxiliary, and serving as a volunteer with the Johnson Rag as long as she was able. She enjoyed visiting with the people of Johnson, and was a good source of the history of the community.

In 2013, when she was no longer able to stay at her home, Margaret became a resident of Ridgview Towers and later Belle Terrace in Tecumseh, Nebraska. While there, she was able to celebrate her 100th birthday. Margaret very much enjoyed her birthday party and the chance to visit with family and friends. She passed away at Belle Terrace on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the age of 100 years, 4 months, and 13 days. Her parents, husband Kenneth, sisters Lois, Mildred, Maxine and Mary, brothers D. Clarke and Herbert, son-in-law Larry Oestmann, infant granddaughter Emily Oestmann, infant great-granddaughter Regan Clark, and great-grandson Ryan DelaCruz preceded her in death.

Margaret is remembered fondly by her daughter Kay Oestmann of Johnson; son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Sarah Williamson of Tecumseh; granddaughters and spouses Jennifer and Todd Martens of Lincoln; Jane and Mark Beethe of Exeter, NE; Rachel Lucero of Birmingham, AL; Alison and Christopher Cantu of Pittsford, NY; Susan and Matthew Ruehling of Dublin, OH; great-grandchildren Jacob and Riley Clark, Hannah and Jackson Beethe, Michael and Katlynn Goulette; Aiden and Madison Leigh Cantu; Adam Ruehling; other relatives and friends.
