Orlin H. Shires, age 89 of Porterville, CA, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 9, 2007. He was born December 20, 1917 in Fremont, NE. Orlin was a Navy veteran of WWII.
He is survived by Louise, his wife of 64 years, his children and their spouses, Pamela and Thomas Sneddon (Santa Barbara, CA), Priscilla and Ryan Cox (Elk Grove, CA), Patrick and Anne Shires (San Andreas, CA), Paul and Julie Shires (Arroyo Grande, CA), Preston and Sylvie Shires (Peru, NE), and twenty grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Local services will be Friday, June 15, 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Community Church east of Auburn. Burial will follow in the Nemaha Cemetery, with graveside military honors provided by American Legion Post #23 and VFW Post #3767 of Auburn. Visitation with family will be Thursday 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
