Rosemary Marnell

Rosemary Agnes (Schneider) Marnell, daughter of Carl and Amelia ?Millie? (Michon) Schneider, was born May 13, 1921 on a farm west of Peru, Nebraska. One of eight children, she attended District 22 rural school near Julian, Nebraska and Julian High School.

On January 23, 1940 Rosemary was united in marriage to Thomas Marnell of Greenbush, Kansas at St. Bernard Catholic Church near Julian. Three sons, Roger, Keith, and Terry were born to this union. After working in Memphis, Tennessee and Nebraska City, Nebraska, the couple farmed in the Peru and Brownville area. In 1959 they moved into Peru.

Rosemary was a homemaker first and foremost, but she also worked at the Danny Dare Sewing Factory for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, going for long walks and seeing the calves growing up on the farm. Rosemary liked to visit friends, especially those who were not able to get out.

As a member of St. Clara?s Catholic Church in Peru, Rosemary was very involved in church activities, including being a member of the Altar Society. She also belonged to the Peru Senior Citizens and had served as president of the organization.

When she could no longer live at home, Rosemary became a resident of the Ambassador Care Center in Nebraska City in October of 2012. It was there she passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 27 days. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, sisters Ellen, Vera, and Edna, and brothers Carl, Harry, and Wayne.

Rosemary is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Roger and Ann of Huntsville, AL; Keith and Carroll of Tinley Park, IL; Terry and Cecilia of Peru; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister Marcella Sayer of Seligman, AZ; other relatives and friends.

Funeral mass was Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Auburn, celebrated by Father Greg Pawloski. Barb Billesbach was accompanist for congregational songs. Pallbearers were Pat Marnell, Chris Marnell, Scott Marnell, Michael Marnell, Tim Pugh, Chris Corey, and David Marnell. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Peru.
