Todd Simpson

Laverne Dee ?Todd? Simpson, son of Floyd L. and Erma Louise (Snell) Simpson, was born May 7, 1935 at Sidney, Iowa. He attended Brightside Country School, Thurman Public School, and graduated from Sidney High School in 1952.
On January 23, 1955 Todd was united in marriage to Margaret LaVonne Scott in the Tabor Congregational Church in Tabor, Iowa. Two children, Todda Margene and Sheila Coleen, were born to this union. The couple made their first home in Sidney.
Todd entered the U. S. Army in January of 1956, serving most of his duty in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was honorably discharged in January of 1958, and he and Margaret made their home in Tabor, Iowa. In 1960 the family moved to Auburn, Nebraska and in 1967 to an acreage west of Auburn.
During his lifetime Todd worked as a mechanic, a truck driver, and a plumber. He managed the Rural Water District #2 from 1983 until his retirement in 2005.
Todd became a member of the First Methodist Church in Sidney on March 30, 1947. He also belonged to the Nemaha County Saddle Club and the Auburn Eagles Aerie #3767. In the 1960?s he had been involved with Little Britches Rodeo in southwest Iowa. Todd enjoyed dancing with Margaret and playing cards with friends and family.
When illness made it impossible for Todd to remain at his home he entered the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn on May 30, 2013. It was there he passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the age of 78 years and 28 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Esther Simpson, step-father G.T. Kelley, and infant twin brother and sister Max and Marsha.
Todd is survived by his wife Margaret of Auburn; daughters Todda Wren and friend Bill Kieler of Peru, Sheila Isaacson and husband Mike of Valparaiso; grandchildren Wyatt Amthor and wife Kari, Tasia Propp and husband Seth; Garrett-Gumby Wren, Jordan Isaacson and friend Zach Saunders, Tate Isaacson, Todd ?TJ? Isaacson; great-grandchildren Westyn & Talyn Amthor, Zaine & Turner Propp; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 08, 2013 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Rev. Ruth Henderson. Special pre-recorded music was played for the service. Pallbearers were Wyatt Amthor, Mike Isaacson, Vernon Gerdes, John Stepongzi, Don Allely, and John Kreienhop. Serving as honorary bearers were Tate Isaacson, Todd ?TJ? Isaacson, Garrett-Gumby Wren, Bob Drake, and Glen Mellage. Rev. Gordon Scott officiated at committal services at the Malvern Cemetery near Malvern, Iowa. Burial followed.
Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
