Betty Rogge

d. July 1, 2022

Betty Jean (Alberts) Rogge, age 79, died at Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance California on July 1, 2022.

Betty grew up on a farm north of Humboldt, NE and attended Johnson High School where she was Salutatorian of the class of 1960. She met her future husband, Larry Rogge, in high school and both attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. They were married at Long Branch Lutheran Church near Humboldt before they graduated - Larry joined the Air Force soon after..

They had an amazing and fulfilling life’s journey together… living in North and South Dakota, Japan, Germany, and finally California. Along the way, they had three sons: Nathan, Jason, and Joshua. Betty was not only mom to the boys, but also a part-time teacher in each community they lived in around the world. When she wasn’t taking the boys to music and sports activities, she enjoyed quilting and stamping and was an avid golfer. In retirement, she traveled frequently to Mexico with friends and family - it was the only time she was away from her constant companion, her dog Winnie.

Betty was living in Ridgecrest, CA for the last 30+ years where she retired from the Department of Defense as a financial analyst. In March of 2021 she moved to Rolling Hills Estates, CA to be closer to family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Rogge as well as her parents Erma and Eddie Alberts and her sister Nadene Gerdes of Humboldt NE. She leaves behind her three sons and their families including four grandchildren, Paige, Andrew, Evan, and Lilly.

She will be missed dearly…..

Burial will be held on August 6th at Johnson Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Johnson Foundation.
