Cora Lillian Huey was born September 15, 1914 in Auburn, Nebraska. She was the eleventh of fourteen children of John A. and Victoria (McCormick) Huey. Lillian attended school in the Auburn Public Schools.

On February 3, 1934 Lillian was united in marriage to Floyd Carmichael in Papillion, Nebraska, and their union was blessed with four children: Annitta, Gordon, Ruth, and Elaine. They made their home in southeast Nebraska, including Shubert, Nemaha, and Brownville.

Lillian had worked with her husband in their trucking operation, and she also worked at the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn and operated a restaurant in Shubert and Nemaha.

As a member of the Nemaha United Methodist Church, Lillian was active in the United Methodist Women and other church activities. She also belonged to Rebekkah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, and Mental Culture Club. She loved to dance, and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and embroidery.

When she could no longer stay alone at home, Lillian resided with her daughter Ruth in Plattsmouth for four years. In September of 2009 she became a resident of the Louisville Care Center in Louisville, Nebraska. It was there she passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the age of 96 years, 7 months, and 22 days. Her parents, husband Floyd, daughters Annitta Jones and Elaine Wallen, three grandchildren, six sisters, and six brothers preceded her in death.

Lillian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gordon and Fris Carmichael of Miles, TX; daughter and son-in-law Ruth and James Welstead of Plattsmouth, NE; son-in-law Ken Wallen of Arizona; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother Everett Huey of Falls City; sister-in-law Opal Frye of Falls City; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 14, 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Nemaha. Burial will follow in the Nemaha Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to Nemaha United Methodist Church or family choice.
