Cecil Hahn

Cecil Louis Hahn, one of two children of Louis W. and Marie M. (Hahn) Hahn, was born February 18, 1921 on a farm near Johnson, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church near his home. Cecil attended Graf School, graduated from Johnson High School, and furthered his education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska.
While at school in Kearney, Cecil entered the U. S. Army on December 23, 1940. He served in the European Theater during World War II with the 136th Quartermaster Truck Company. Upon his honorable discharge on October 31, 1945 Cecil returned to Nebraska.
On October 4, 1946 Cecil was united in marriage to Lorraine Redfern in Omaha, Nebraska. They made their first home in Avoca, Iowa and soon moved to Dexter, Iowa, where their daughter Betty was born. They then moved to Omaha, and in 1954 the family moved to Auburn, Nebraska to join Lorraine?s father in his men?s retail clothing business. Eventually Cecil purchased the business, and operated Hahn Clothing until his retirement in April of 1989.
Cecil was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn, and served on the church council. Cecil served on the initial board that was crucial in bringing Good Samaritan Society to Auburn. He was past president of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and the Auburn Country Club. Cecil was also a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Post #23 in Auburn.
After a 10 day hospital stay, Cecil entered the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn in September of 2012. It was there he passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the age of 91 years, 7 months, and 28 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Ethel and Herman Blinde, niece Sharon Armstrong, and brother-in-law Edgar ?Bud? Redfern.
Cecil is survived by his wife Lorraine of Auburn; daughter Betty Adams of Lincoln; grandson Todd Adams of Durham, NC; niece Judy Smith of Aurora, CO; sister-in-law Annabelle Redfern of Auburn; other relatives and friends.
