Eva Mae Rippe Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Eva Mae Rippe, 88, entered into glory with Jesus with family at her side on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Longs Creek Village in Auburn, NE. She was born on July 26, 1926 near Avoca, NE to John and Emma (Neumeister) Lingle. She was baptized on March 20, 1927, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Talmage, NE and was confirmed on September 21, 1947, at the First Lutheran Church (North Branch) outside of Avoca, NE. She received a teaching certificate from Peru State College and taught for 3 years at a country school. On May 29, 1947, Eva Mae married the love of her life, Maynard Heinrich John Rippe, at North Branch and they began their life journey together. Maynard and Eva Mae began their careers as a farming couple east of Lincoln, NE with subsequent moves to McPherson, KS, and later to Auburn in 1962, where they resided for the rest of their lives. It is easy to underestimate the power and influence of what appeared as an ordinary life, one that was not measured by material treasures, but rather by true love for family and God. Eva Mae routinely baked and provided food for friends and visitors, once sheltering 108 stranded visitors in a five-room farm house during a blizzard in the 1950’s. She continued teaching at various points in her career for the ESU #4 and had life-long interests in farming, gardening, dancing, and attending Lutheran Layman’s League and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League conventions. Eva Mae was a wonderful mother to her children, daughter Beverly Jones of Omaha, daughter Faye and husband Larry Darling of Lincoln, son Dennis and wife Debbie of Kansas City, MO, and daughter Lisa Rippe of Auburn. She was preceded in death by her husband Maynard and parents, John and Emma Lingle of Avoca. She is survived by her brother John Lingle, Jr. of Otoe. Additional survivors include sisters-in-law Leora Emshoff and husband Wilbert of Omaha, Betty Rippe of Syracuse, and Elaine Hennings of Omaha, grandchildren Duke Jones, Joslyn Allen, Joe Darling, Ryan Darling, Amy McClure, Derek Rippe, Ben Rippe, and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Hemmingsen Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Graveside committal services will be at 2:00 PM at Trinity (Stutheit) Cemetery, south of Johnson along Highway 105. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Auburn Rescue Squad. Services are entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
