Evelyn Wilhelm

March 19, 1924 — October 8, 2009

Evelyn Ellen Wilhelm, one of four daughters of Raymond and Emma (Buntz) Gilfillan, was born March 19, 1924 in Mound City, Missouri. Her family moved to Verdon, Nebraska, and she graduated from high school there.

On March 31, 1948 Evelyn was united in marriage to Dick Wilhelm at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church near Verdon. Their union would be blessed with three children: Gary, Sharon, and David. The couple made their home in Stella, Nebraska for several years, and in 1996 moved their family to Auburn, Nebraska.

Evelyn dedicated her time to raising her children and running the household, but she did enjoy working with her flowers and garden and sewing in her spare time. She always loved to spend time with her grandkids, and attend their activities.

After Dick?s passing in 1999, Evelyn moved to Rock Port, Missouri for about 4 years. She then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska until July of 2009, when she became a resident of Ridgewood Care Facility in Seward, Nebraska following a fall in Lincoln. On Thursday, October 8, 2009 she was rushed to Memorial Hospital in Seward, where efforts to save her were unsuccessful. She passed away that day at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 19 days. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson Eric Greenley.

Those left to mourn her passing include her sons and daughters-in-law Gary and wife Shari Wilhelm of Lincoln, David and wife Sally Wilhelm of Seward; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and husband Ken Greenley of Rock Port, Missouri; grandchildren Christopher Greenley; Julie and husband Christopher Rempe; Michael and wife Jessica Wilhelm; sisters and brothers-in-law Clyda and husband Harold Schmidt of Lincoln, Maxine and husband Norman Arnold of Verdon, Ila Mae Arnold of Verdon; other relatives and friends.
