Helen Louise Shires, age 91 of Porterville, CA, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in Santa Barbara, CA. She was born October 19, 1919 near Peru.
Survivors include her children and spouses Pamela and Tom Sneddon of Santa Barbara, CA; Priscilla and Ryan Cox of Elk Grove, CA; Patrick and Anne Shires of San Andreas, CA; Paul and Julie Shires of Arroyo Grande, CA; Preston and Sylvie Shires of Peru, NE; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 13, 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Community Church near Auburn. Burial will follow in the Nemaha Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
Memorials are suggested to Porterville College Foundation Dr. Orlin and Mrs. Louise Shires Scholarship Fund or Alta Mira Chapter of DAR for the Louise Shires Scholarship and Historical Fund.
