Jackie Wheeler

June 27, 1935 — January 3, 2022

Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann (Clarke) Wheeler, daughter of Ted and Helen (Fellers) Clarke, was born on June 27, 1935, in Auburn, Nebraska. She was one of two daughters.

Jackie received her education at District #29 public schools and graduated from Auburn High School in 1953. On January 19, 1954, Jackie married Gale Wheeler at the Howe United Methodist Church. To this union three children were born. Jackie and Gale made their home on a farm southwest of Auburn.

Jackie loved her family. It was her greatest pleasure in life, to be doing things for her boys and grandchildren. She was very excited to be around her great-grandchildren when possible

Community also held a very special place in Jackie’s heart. She loved to go dancing, travel with friends, go to coffee groups, her knitting group, and exercise classes. Shopping and buying lottery tickets were an extra bit of fun for her. She enjoyed working on the election board during voting and was an active member of the Legion Auxiliary in Auburn.

As Jackie’s health deteriorated, she continued to enjoy occasional visits from grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. Jackie was admitted to Good Samaritan Nursing home on December 31st 2021, and was placed in hospice. It was there she passed away on January 3rd, 2022 at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 7 days.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gale of Auburn and her parents and stepfather Joe Felgen. She is survived by three children, Kevin of Auburn, Steve and wife Nancy of Brownville, and Barton and wife Cathy of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, Thomas Wheeler, Stephanie (Brandon) Butterfield, David (Azalia) Wheeler, Keith (Chelsey) Wheeler, Sarah Driggers, Brenna (Sam) Covington, and Mason (Katlyn) Wheeler; sister Karen (Peter) Coldagelli of Mesa, AZ, stepbrother Mike (Mona) Felgen of Lake Crystal, MN, Sister-in-law Claire Heriford of Kansas City, MO; seven great grandchildren, Clara Driggers, Adalyn Driggers, Eleanor Driggers, Emmett Wheeler, Gideon Wheeler, Lucas Wheeler, and Savannah Butterfield, nieces and nephews other relatives and many many friends.
