Joe Kuwitzky

Joe Kuwitzky entered into eternal rest February 23, 2012. Most recently he had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn. The son of Joseph T. and Josephine Kuwitzky was born May 18, 1926. Joe attended Nebraska City Lourdes and Public schools. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he served as a tail gunner during World War II. After serving his country he returned home and married Bonnie Jean Overton in 1947 and moved to Auburn in 1949. There he started his electrical contracting business serving greater Nemaha County. He was a founding partner of United Electric Supply of Omaha. Joe was a proud life member of the American Legion, VFW, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Elks. He enjoyed being on one of the last Honor Flights to Washington D.C. to see the WWII Memorial. Joe and Bonnie enjoyed traveling around the country and overseas.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Bonnie, sister Irene Woods and brother Don. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Kirk and Susan of Omaha; T.J. and Susan of Dunn Loring, VA; Kent and Barbara of Centennial, CO; Todd and Susan of Omaha; grandchildren Erin and husband Mike, Kyle, Shannon, Caroline, Brett, Kelly, and Kirsten.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 29, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2221 N St, Auburn. Burial will follow in Sheridan West Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 5:00 to 7:00. Memorials are suggested to the Auburn Rescue Squad, Sheridan Cemetery Association, or charity of giver?s choice.
