Marcia Mcvay

Marcia Elaina McVay, daughter of John Wayne McVay and Theota M. (Dovel) McVay, was born August 23, 1950 in Auburn, Nebraska. She attended school in Auburn, and graduated from Auburn High School. After graduation Marcia attended Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Her schooling led her to a career at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She started in the Student Health Division, and later moved to a position at the East Campus. Her success led her back to the main campus as a Personnel and Finance Assistant in the College of Education and Human Sciences.

Marcia was very family oriented, and always took an interest in her younger cousins? school activities. She loved to decorate her house for the seasons, and enjoyed puttering with flowers in her yard.

After a brave struggle with cancer, Marcia passed away at her home in Lincoln on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the age of 59 years, 6 months, and 22 days. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marcia is survived by cousins Ed Dovel and wife Kathy of Omaha, Jim Dovel and wife Portia of Gilbert, Arizona; many other relatives; and many, many friends.

Graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Bedford Cemetery at Howe, Nebraska, with Pastor Ron Russell officiating. Pallbearers are Ed Dovel, Todd Dovel, Brett Dovel, Dalton Dovel, Jim Wilken, and Dennis Crispin. Jackie Wilken, Ann Schow, Abigail Bobbett, Spencer Bobbett, Cheyenne Dovel, Jeana Dovel, and Linda Dovel will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow.
