Mike Allen

March 20, 1949 — April 9, 2015

Michael Dean Allen was born March 20, 1949 in Auburn, Nebraska. He was one of four children of Leonard Eugene and Roberta Jean (Vosberg) Allen. Mike went to school in Nemaha, Nebraska through his junior year, and was in the first graduating class from Southeast Nebraska Consolidated School in 1967. He attended Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska for over 3 years.

For most of his adult life, Mike worked at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska, starting during its construction and retiring in 2006 for health reasons. At retirement, he was the Quality Assurance Program Supervisor.

On September 3, 1982 Mike was united in marriage to Lea Ann Sullivan at the Brownville Christian Church. They made their home in Nemaha, and were members of the Nemaha Christian Church.

Mike was always an outdoor guy, and loved to hunt, do yard work or tinker around outside, and go for drives in the country. He was a good athlete, and enjoyed sports of all types. Other talents included a good singing voice, a knack for storytelling, and his sense of humor.

A brain tumor was the reason for Mike retiring at an early age. After his operation in 2006, he was cancer-free until October of 2014. As his health deteriorated, he was able to stay at his home with the help of Lea Ann, other family, and friends. Mike passed away at his home in Nemaha on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the age of 66 years and 20 days. His parents preceded him in death.

Those who are left to remember his humorous and loving ways include his wife Lea Ann of Nemaha; children and spouses Kirk and Heidi Allen of Bennet, NE; Stacey Allen and fiancé Terry Moore of Henderson, NV; Tina and Steve Sherman of Omaha; Kent and Casie Allen of Nemaha; Pam Allen of Nemaha; grandchildren Creighton, Kale, Jesse, Charlie, Landry, Hayden, Jacob, and Erin; brothers Jon and wife Joan Allen of Effingham, KS; Van Allen of Nemaha; sister Lynne Dosch of Claremore, OK; brothers-in-law David “Butch” and wife Linda Sullivan of Fayetteville, NC; Jeff and wife Theresa Sullivan of Tulsa, OK; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
