Neta Nincehelser

December 5, 1924 — January 7, 2011

Neta Madeline (Bumbaugh) Nincehelser, beloved wife of Merlin Nincehelser, was born on a farm near Ogden, Kansas on December 5, 1924. She was the daughter of William and Bertha (Peterson) Bumbaugh.

Neta attended school in Ogden and graduated from high school in Manhattan, Kansas in 1940. She taught at a country school for one year, then went to work at the Boeing Aircraft Plant in Wichita, Kansas until the end of World War II. At this time she moved to Junction City, Kansas, where she met Merlin. They were married there on June 14, 1947. Following their marriage they moved to north of Auburn, Nebraska where Merlin farmed. To this union one daughter, Anneta Louise, was born.

Through the years Neta was employed by Wilhelm?s Store and then the Hested?s store for 25 years, followed by several other retail stores. After 40 years of working, she retired due to failing health.

Neta loved square dancing, and she and Merlin belonged to three different clubs. She was an active participant in the buying and selling of antiques in their Red Goose Antiques Store for 33 years. Neta was a charter member of the Oak Dale Club and a member of Auburn Christian Church, where she was active in Gleaners Circle. She was also an enrolled of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.

Neta entered the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn in February of 2009. It was there she passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011 at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 2 days. In addition to her husband, Neta is survived by her daughter Annie and husband Rick Johnson of San Diego, California as well as many, many friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 11, 2:30 p.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in Sheridan Cemetery near Auburn. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
