Patricia Packett

Patricia Ann Packett, daughter of Loyall L. and Catherine (Bell) Phund, was born April 1, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska. After her mother was remarried to Earl Howard, Sr., Patty?s family would grow to include six siblings. Patty attended school at Bratton Union School, where she graduated from high school.

On November 30, 1964 Patricia was united in marriage to David Allen Packett at Lincoln, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with three children: David, Kelli, and Diana. The couple and their children lived in several places prior to returning to Nebraska and the Stella and Shubert area.

Patty worked early in her married life at the Campbell Soup Plant in Tecumseh. Later she became a representative of the Avon Company. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, fishing and maintaining her cabin home at Big Lake, Missouri.

After her husband passed away in 2001, Patty lived in Shubert until moving to Auburn in 2008. She passed away unexpectedly at the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn on Friday, October 23, 2009 at the age of 66 years, 6 months, and 22 days. In addition to her husband and parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her step-sisters Mary Lou Raney, Erma Hall, and Darlene Lambert, and step-brother Earl Howard, Jr.

Patty is survived by her son David Packett of Topeka, KS; daughters and sons-in-law Kelli and Jason Smith of Wilmington, NC; Diana and Steve Ramer of Edina, MO; seven grandchildren Tessa, Myles, Rylee, Trae, Teara, Kaley, Kyle; sisters and brothers-in-law Linda and Marlyn Shafer of Council Bluffs, IA; Sally and Dennis Bantz of Auburn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 28, 10:30 a.m. at the Shubert Christian Church. Burial will follow in Prairie Union Cemetery near Shubert. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 7:00 to 8:30.
