Terrance Eugene Laplant

Terrance Eugene LaPlant, one of six children of Henry and Muriel (Achey) LaPlant, was born May 21, 1958, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Muriel was then married to Vern Dukken, the two of them raised Terry in Grand Rapids, where he graduated from high school. Terry received his bachelor’s degree from Peru State College and a master’s degree from University of Nebraska Omaha.
In January of 1978, Terry enlisted in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Terry served aboard the USS Long Beach, before being honorably discharged in 1984.
On April 25, 1982, Terry was united in marriage to Dorrie Friedrich at Jordan, Minnesota, and would be blessed with three sons: Joe, Jason, and Jeff. The couple would later divorce.
Terry held several jobs throughout his life but spent the majority of his career with Omaha Public Power District as a Unit Operator, where he was recognized for 25 years of service before his retirement.
In his spare time, Terry loved following professional wrestling, he enjoyed music with his family, and golfing.
On the morning of August 24, 2022, Terry passed away at his home in rural Otoe County, having reached the age of 64 years, 3 months, and 3 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Henry LaPlant, sister Pat Tobeck, brother-in-law Phillip Virkus, and his beloved dog Dog.
Survivors include his sons Joe (Mayel) Avechuco of St. Paul, MN, Jason LaPlant of Anytown, U.S.A., Jeff LaPlant of Auburn; sister Sally Virkus; brothers Mike (Kookie) LaPlant, Tim (Marie) LaPlant, other relatives, and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held next spring on Lake Pokegama in Minnesota.
