Velma May Ham, 87, a resident of Loveland, Colorado for the past 25 years, passed away at the Good Samaritan Society-Loveland on January 28, 2012.



She was born to Guy C. and Myrtle H. (Troup) Wheeldon on May 29, 1924 at Brownville, Nebraska. She married Robert F. Ham on May 11, 1940 in Rock Port, Missouri and was blessed with five children: Roberta, Octie Lee, Linda, Roma, and Richard. Velma and Robert lived in several towns in Nebraska including Shubert, Auburn, and Lincoln and in Colorado, including Estes Park, Longmont, and Loveland. She was a willing partner in the dozens of home inprovement projects with the love of her life and husband Robert F. For several years she worked by his side at the family-owned R & H Sales and Service in Lincoln, repairing and selling vacuum cleaners and parts.



In Colorado, she worked serveral years as a nursing home nurses aid, and in her later years she contented herself with being a homemaker, enjoying her large family and caring for her husband as his health declined. She loved people, country music, and good food.



Velma is survived by her son Octie Lee and wife Joan of Lake Orion, MI; daughters Linda Mele of PA and Roma Edger of IA; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Forest, daughter Roberta, son Richard, brothers Dale and Frederick (Bud), twin brother LaVerne, and sister Mabel Ham.
