Cecil Clark

Cecil Clifford Clark, one of eleven children of Steven R. and Florence E. (Chapman) Clark, was born April 10, 1940 at Nemaha, Nebraska. Cecil went to Howe for his early years of school and went on to graduate from Auburn High School.

On June 10, 1961, Cecil was united in marriage to Lonnie Snyder at Nebraska City. The couple made their home in Auburn, where they raised their three children: Timothy, Kristy, and Jon.

Cecil was a heavy machine operator all the working years of his life. It was what he loved to do. He became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 571 of Omaha on March 26, 1969. While a member of Local 571, Cecil worked for multiple contractors. He retired from the union in February of 2000. After his retirement, Cecil continued working a dozer for local farmers, doing terrace work and any other dirt work that was needed.

Cecil was baptized in the Howe Methodist Church as a child, and transferred his membership to the First United Methodist Church in Auburn later in life. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3767 in Auburn. Cecil was a Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan, and an even bigger fan watching his grandkids play ball.

Cecil was admitted to the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln, and it was there that he passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at the age of 73 years, 1 month, and 2 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister: Charles, Steven, Jack, Kenneth ?Spud?, Beth Cooper, and Larry Clark.

Survivors include his wife Lonnie of Auburn; children Timothy and wife Elizabeth Clark of Olive Branch, MS; Kristy and husband Jeff Garver of Auburn; Jon ?Rollie? and wife Carey Clark of Auburn; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers William Clark of Auburn; Clinton ?Speck? and wife Jean Clark of Auburn; sisters Mary and husband Wayne French of Springfield, NE; Nancy Clark of Alexandria, VA; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Auburn, officiated by Rev. Nita Hinds-Park. Special music was performed by Spirit Wave. Pallbearers were Gene Taylor, Willard Clark, Rick Clark, Bryce Andrew, Luke Andrew, and Nick Bantz. Honorary bearers were the grandkidsand great-grandkids: Katie Oakley, Jacy Pollard, Jordan Garver, Josh Garver, Courtney Clark, Ethan Clark, Aidan Clark, Brody Clark Connor Clark, Kael Clark, Cole Clark, Riley Tanner, Jersie Tanner, and Emmy Pollard. Cecil?s body was cremated after the services, and burial of ashes will be at a later date at Bedford Cemetery at Howe.
