Darrell L. Gerdes, age 72 of Talmage, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. He was born January 12, 1936 in Auburn.
Survivors include his wife Doris of Talmage; children and spouses Michael and Kay Gerdes of Talmage; Kathryn and Dave Young of Falls City; Deborah and Doug Olson of Papillion; Teresa and Mike McKee of Hopkins, MO; James and Krys Gerdes of Creston, IA; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Vera and husband Henry Rieken of Johnson; Margaret Piper of Brock; brothers-in-law Jack and wife Linda Piper of Leesburg, VA; Kenneth and wife Irene Piper of Dunbar; other relatives and friends.
Services will be Saturday, December 6, 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage. A book will be available for signing at the funeral home Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be no viewing. Inurnment of ashes will be at a later date at the Clifton Cemetery near Brock.
Memorials in lieu of flowers suggested to Talmage Fire & Rescue, Faith Lutheran Church, or family choice.
