Evelyn M Anderson

June 2, 1934 — March 15, 2014

Evelyn May (White) Anderson, one of three children of Calvin Roy and Florence (Wilcoxson) White, was born June 2, 1934 in Jewell, Kansas. She attended school in Portis and Smith Center in Kansas until 1945, when her family moved to Nemaha County in Nebraska. Evelyn then attended school in Nemaha, Nebraska.

On July 27, 1951 Evelyn married Hobert M. Anderson in Union, Nebraska. They were blessed with five sons: Hobert, Doug, Dave, Dan, and Don. The couple raised their sons on a farm near Stella, Nebraska, but would later divorce.

Evelyn, in addition to taking care of her family and the household, helped Hobe with the farming and their dairy herd. She later owned and operated Anderson’s Tavern in Stella. She ran the tavern for 29 years until selling it in 1999.

Evelyn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nemaha. She was a great cook, known for her fried chicken. She loved tending to her yard and garden and raising chickens. In her spare time she liked to bowl, and continued bowling for many years. First in her life was always her children and grandchildren, and she never missed activities that involved her family.

After a fall in January of 2013, Evelyn’s health gradually began to fail. In March of 2014 she was admitted to Bryan LGH East Medical Center in Lincoln, where she passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 13 days. Her parents, former husband Hobert, and son Hobert preceded her in death.
