Herman H. Stutheit

March 1, 1939 — July 27, 2024

Syracuse (formerly Johnson)

Herman H. Stutheit

Herman H. Stutheit was born March 1, 1939, to Alma (Oestmann) & Chester Stutheit at his grandfather Herman J. Stutheit’s home as roads were closed due to a blizzard. Young Herman was full of life and energy and spent his childhood farming, tending livestock, hunting and fishing. He attended the Greenfield District 62 elementary country school. Herman was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church (“The Stutheit Church”) and confirmed at Martin Luther Church. He went on to attend Johnson High School where he played football (earning the nickname “He-Man Herman”), basketball, baseball, track & field. Herman met the love of his life Jeannette Bohling while in high school. They were united in marriage October 13, 1957.

Herman & Jeannette started their life together in Lincoln NE, where Herman discovered he loved helping people while selling milk products for Meadow Gold. Within three years the opportunity to purchase his Grandpa’s farm brought them back to Johnson where they raised their family. They were blessed with three children Curtis, Kelly & Jenny. Herman had a passion and talent of livestock husbandry that led to a sales career helping pork producers. Herman sold feed for Walnut Grove for many years, then started “Stutheit Sales & Service” selling & servicing Del-Air swine ventilation systems. Herman loved his work helping his dealers and customers.

As much as Herman enjoyed work, he deeply loved his family, friends and his church. He worked hard to make time for all of them. He loved fishing, hunting, Husker football and playing cards with family and friends. Herman and Jeannette enjoyed travel, golf and dining out for lunch. But most important was family time spent camping, 4-H, family vacations, Sunday dinners, holiday & birthday celebrations, the kids and grandkids school & sporting activities, and family time at the “mountain house”. Herman never let anyone leave a family event without a big bear hug and an “I love you”.

Herman loved God and his church. He was active in Lutheran Brotherhood, adult Bible study, church council and was always willing to serve where needed. Later in life he enjoyed studying his Bible and writing & reciting a heartfelt meal prayer for family gatherings.

After a brief illness, God was merciful in bringing Herman peacefully home on July 27, 2024.

Herman is survived by his wife Jeannette of Syracuse; son and daughter-in-law Curtis and Cathy Stutheit of Omaha; daughters and sons-in-law Kelly and Alan Rippe of Syracuse, Jenny and Lee Moerer of Johnson; grandchildren Brittany (Jonathan) Sharman, Camden Stutheit (significant other Jen Nguyen), Blake (Ashley) Rippe, Maura (Bryan) Hillman, Chrystine (Riley) Stubbendeck, Alyssa Rippe (fiancé Dakotah Doolittle), Morgan (Chris) Marshall, and Melanie (Todd) Munson; great-grandchildren Khloe and Kade Sharman, Evelyn, Laura, Allie and Emma Rippe, Harvey, Charley and Barrett Hillman, Landon and Logan Marshall, Brecken and Kasen Munson; sister-in-law Karen Dunekacke of Fairbury; many other relatives and friends.
