Jeffrey Allen Villegas, son of Kathryn (Jeffers) Knepp, was born January 21, 1972, in Harlan, Iowa. The family moved to McCook, Nebraska, where Jeff received a majority of his schooling, graduating with the class of 1993 from McCook High School.
After high school, Jeff was employed at Arby’s in McCook, a position he held for 20+ years. Jeff then moved to Nebraska City and began working for APACE in their workshop. While in Nebraska City, Jeff also worked at the jail.
Jeff was a member of the JAYCEE’s and competed in a bowling league both in McCook and Nebraska City. He enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics in his younger years and loved watching WWE and listening to Garth Brooks. Jeff was also a sports fanatic, cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, and the Goldan State Warriors.
While in Lee’s Summit, MO visiting his sister, Jeff was rushed to the Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, KS. It was there that he passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, having reached the age of 52 years, 8 months, and 12 days. His grandparents and mother Kathy preceded him in death.
Those left to mourn his passing include his sisters and brothers-in-law Shelly and Scott Teten of Auburn, Sheila and Anthony Lewis of Lee’s Summit, MO; nieces and nephews Nathan (Erin) Teten and their sons Jackson and Barrett, Ashley Teten, Santana Lewis, Easton Lewis, Jalen Lewis, and Cameron Lewis; aunts and uncles Patty and Scott Laird, Janet and Jerry Rucker, Rita and Don Steinke, Neil Schuman, Mary Lira, Cathy Delaney, Vickie Villegas, Eddie Villegas; fiancé Lydia Nannen; many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 11, 2:00 p.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in Glenrock Cemetery near Brock. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
