Justin D. Critser

Justin Duane Critser, one of three children of Homer and Erma (Odell) Critser, was born August 10, 1934, in Beaver City, Nebraska.  He attended rural school and then Oxford High School, graduating second in his class in 1952.  Justin then received a degree in diesel fuel injection from Interstate Training Services of Portland, Oregon.

Justin enlisted in the United States Navy in July of 1956.  After receiving an honorable discharge for medical reasons, he returned to the Oxford area.

On May 26, 1963, Justin was united in marriage to Ilaline Iva Bogle at the Auburn Christian Church in Auburn, Nebraska.  They made their home in Auburn and were blessed with three children:  Irene, Frank, and Jon.

With his schooling in diesel mechanics and experience with diesel tractors on his father’s farm, Justin worked for implement and truck dealerships in Beaver City, Oxford, Norfolk, and Omaha.  In 1967 he opened his own business, Automotive Diesel, Inc., in Auburn, Nebraska.  With Ilaline and his son Frank, he operated the business until 2015.

Justin was a member of the Auburn Christian Church, Gideons, Auburn Rotary Club, Association of Diesel Specialties, and had been involved with the REAP program.  In his younger years he enjoyed fishing.  Justin loved watching the Royals, Chiefs, and was a Husker nut for any sport.

Ilaline passed away on November 24, 2022, and Justin’s health, not great at the time, continued to decline after she passed.  He was admitted to Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, and passed away there on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the age of 89 years and 20 days.  In addition to Ilaline, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Alyssa Rose Critser, brother Billie L. (Verena) Critser, sister CaroLee (Loyd) Bogle, brothers-in-law Wilbur, Harley, and Robert Bogle, sisters-in-law Idaline Wrightsman and Donna Stricklett.

Justin is remembered with love by his daughter Irene Critser of Holdrege; sons and daughters-in-law Frank and Renee of Auburn, Jon and Jennifer of Elkhorn; grandchildren Justin, Chad, Maddie, and Kyle; brother- and sister-in-law Dean and Sharon Bogle of Humboldt, Carol Bogle of Plattsmouth, Muriel Bogle of Nebraska City; other relatives and friends.
