Kay M.
Boellstorff
July 27, 1941 – April 19, 2026
Kay Marlene Boellstorff, born Kay Marlene Tucker on July 27, 1941, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at Sumner Place in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her departure marks the close of a life deeply woven into the fabric of her community and family, a life that spanned over eight and a half decades rich with love, steadfast faith, and cherished memories.
Kay’s journey began in Nebraska City, where she was rooted by the values instilled by her parents, Homer and Pearl (Sears) Tucker. She carried these early influences throughout her life, which included significant chapters in rural Nebraska — from Johnson and Nebraska City to Norfolk — before ultimately making Lincoln her home in August 2012. It was in rural Talmage, Nebraska, on October 2, 1960, that Kay married Douglas Boellstorff, beginning a lifelong partnership that shaped the contours of her family and life’s endeavors. Their marriage bore the hallmarks of enduring love and companionship until Douglas’s passing.
An active and devoted woman of faith, Kay was a former member of the Charter Oak Christian Church in Talmage, a reflection of her profound spiritual grounding and commitment to community. She remained faithfully involved as a member of the Southview Christian Church in Lincoln, where her spirit of fellowship and kindness left an indelible mark on those around her.
Kay’s family was the center of her world. She is survived by her beloved children and their spouses — Brenda and Alex Taylor, Brian and Eve Boellstorff, Beth and Dave Mueller, Beverly and Holly Hansen, and Blaine and April Boellstorff — whose lives she nurtured with unwavering love and support. Her legacy is also carried forward by her cherished grandchildren: Bonnie Wachtel, Matt Mueller, Karissa Campbell, Trayven Boellstorff, Rylan, Levi, Avery, and Emmy Boellstorff, each a testament to Kay’s enduring influence and the warmth she provided.
Among her treasured surviving relatives are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Les Dawson, and Carol and Tom Lowrey, who shared her journey through life’s seasons. The family remembers with fond reverence those who preceded her in death: her husband Douglas Boellstorff; her parents Homer and Pearl Tucker; her parents-in-law Charles and Ruth Boellstorff; and her brother Gordon Mallory, whose absence is deeply felt.
A memorial service for Kay will be held on Friday, April 24, 1:00 p.m. at Southview Christian Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Burial of ashes will be in the Johnson Cemetery at Johnson.
Memorials are suggested to Southview Christian Church.
