Larry D. Blankenship

August 17, 1956 — February 19, 2016

Larry Dean Blankenship, son of Charles and Merril (Standley) Blankenship, was born August 17, 1956 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He attended school in Peru, Auburn, and Southeast Consolidated in Stella, where he graduated in 1974.

He enjoyed football and wrestling in high school and in his spare time he liked to ride horses, camp out, and be with friends and family.

Larry worked as a truck driver most of his life, starting with Constructors in the 1970’s and then Keim and Koch in the 80’s. He farmed for Fred Allen in the 90’s and most recently contracted to FedEx as a driver.

Larry married Rena Boss on May 29, 1993. She gained a daughter, Misty, and he gained three daughters: Tricia, Kristi, and Candace. They added one more to the family, a son, Charlie.

Larry loved the Huskers, NASCAR, and hunting when he was home. He was a good man, a teacher to his kids, a friend to all, and most of all a devoted husband and father. He brought a calmness, a peace, to those who knew him and loved him. He passed away February 19, 2016 in Lincoln, Nebraska, surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Merril, father-in-law Tony, mother-in-law Virginia, sister-in-law Sabrina, and grandson Logan. Larry is survived by his wife Rena; father Charles; daughters Misty Reeder and husband James of Cottonwood, CA; Tricia Breazile and husband Nick of Auburn; Kristi Stiffler and fiancé Brandon Conn of Lincoln; Candace Stiffler and fiancé Adam Lohman of Lincoln; son Charlie of Lincoln; grandchildren John, Patrick, Brice, Dante, Brady, and Jayden of Cottonwood, CA; Hayden and Devlyn of Auburn; Landon, Isaiah, and Jovi of Lincoln; great-granddaughter Annika of Cottonwood, CA; sisters-in-law Ronda, Robin, Roxanne, Toni, Celina, and Rachel of Denver, CO; brothers-in-law Randy of Rapid City, SD; Larry of Denver, CO; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
