Lynn Lorraine (Quiq) LaBalle, one of three children of Leslie Ray and Lorraine Bernice (Harm) Quig, was born March 12, 1950, in Oxford, Nebraska. Lynn grew up attending school in Oxford, before graduating from Hastings High School. After high school, Lynn attended Joseph’s College of Cosmetology in Hastings, earning her cosmetology license.
While working as a hairdresser at the mall in Beatrice, Lynn met Don LaBalle, who was working at the mall as a photographer. Lynn and Don were united in marriage on May 23, 1970, in Hastings. After marriage, Lynn and Don moved to Auburn, Nebraska to open a photography studio named LaBalle Studio and start their family. The couple would be blessed with three children: Jennifer Lynn, Brad Leslie, and Nichole Lynn.
After marriage, Lynn was a stay-at-home mom, taking care of the children. She then went to work at Hinky Dinky in Auburn and continued working there when it became Sun Mart, Lynn worked for 20+ years at the grocery store in Auburn. She also worked for a time at Quizno’s in Auburn.
In her free time, Lynn was an avid reader. Her favorite authors were Nora Roberts and Robyn Carr. She also loved hand quilting, crocheting, and knitting. Lynn enjoyed her quilt retreats to Mahoney State Park in Ashland with her quilting friends. She also enjoyed her travels to see her children and grandchildren, traveling to Colorado to see daughter Nichole and family and to Florida to see her son Brad and family.
When her health no longer allowed her to stay at home, Lynn became a resident of Good Samaritan Society-Auburn. It was there that she passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, having reached the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, and brothers Allen and Neil Quiq.
Those left to mourn Lynn’s passing include her children and their spouses Jennifer (Darin) Anderson of Auburn, Brad LaBalle (Masa Waring) of Auburn, Nichole (Landon) Rafos of Destin, FL; grandchildren McKenzie (Ryan) Roggasch, Madison Anderson, Keegan Rafos (fiancé Alyssa), Cheyenne (Jon) Bennett, Logan Waring (fiancé Kiefer Coatney), Hannah Waring, Emily LaBalle, Quinn LaBalle, Owen LaBalle; great-grandchildren Everett and Briar Roggasch, Holden and Karter Coatney, James and Atlas Bennett; sisters-in-law Gwen Quig, Pat Quig; other relatives and many friends.
A funeral service will be Saturday, November 22, 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery south of Johnson. Family will greet friends on Friday at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m..
Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to family choice.
