Marjorie Jurgensmeier

Marjorie Jean Jurgensmeier was born November 6, 1918 in Auburn, Nebraska. She was one of three children of Charles T. and Lenora (O?Dell) Clarke, and attended school in Howe, Nebraska.

As a young woman Jean was married to Ralph Coeur but was later divorced. On December 5, 1939 she was united in marriage to George Jurgensmeier at Falls City, Nebraska. They started their home in the Humboldt, Nebraska area but later moved to the Howe area. The couple was blessed with three children: JoAnn, Sonny, and Debbie.

Jean busied herself running her household, raising the children, and helping on the farm. She loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens, and was known for her cooking and baking. Jean enjoyed baking special birthday cakes for family and friends. She also did crochet work in her spare time.

After George?s passing Jean continued to live at their home in Howe for many years. After a brief period of ill health, Marjorie passed away at the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 18 days. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son Dick Coeur, sister Charlene Kreglo, and brother Ted Clarke.

Jean is survived by her children JoAnn Dahlenburg of Howe; Sonny Jurgensmeier of Nemaha; Debbie and husband Richard Cox of Howe; grandchildren Vicki Coeur, Allison Coeur, Amy Coeur, Sherry Dahlenburg, Lori Hanger, Susie Reimers, and Demi Cox; 6 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 28, 10:30 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in Bedford Cemetery at Howe. Visitation will be Saturday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., when family will greet friends, and Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m.
