Nikki Colglazier

Nikki Colglazier was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched many lives. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society-Auburn, at the age of 67.

She was born February 19, 1958, in Auburn, Nebraska, to Sherman and Edna (Rice) Colglazier. Nikki had a love of horses from an early age and spent many hours riding with her family and friends. She was also a huge Osmond Brothers fan and had the opportunity to attend her first concert in Omaha, NE with family and friends. Nikki was an avid reader, whether it was her favorite author Stephen King or learning something new. She was baptized at the Shubert Christian Church as a child and had a strong faith that sustained her throughout her life. On Saturday July 19, 1975, at the Shubert Christian Church Nikki was united in marriage to Mark Kirkendall, to this union three children were born, Melissa, Tyler and Jared Kirkendall. They were later divorced. She then married David Palmer on May 27, 1989, at Coryell Park, no children were born to this union, and they later divorced

She especially valued and treasured her time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was happiest surrounded by those she loved. Nikki was a working mom and was employed at Pamida in their office and also worked in the Nemaha County Treasurer's Office for a few years.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Kirkendall; sons, Tyler (Tiffany) Kirkendall and Jared Kirkendall; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Colglazier; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie (aka Beastie) and John Hoelting; and many other relatives and friends.

Nikki had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Her home was always open, filled with the warmth of her generous spirit. She loved gardening, and her flower beds were a vibrant reflection of her care and creativity. Nikki was also known for her handwritten notes—thoughtful messages that arrived just when you needed them most. She always loved the ocean and especially dolphins. A highlight of her travels was a trip to her daughter's wedding in Florida, where she spent time at the beautiful beaches. To commemorate this special time for her, she had a small delicate dolphin tattoo put on her ankle.

A memorial service to celebrate Nikki's life will be held on Sunday, August 31, at 2:00 p.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home. All who knew Nikki are welcome to join in honoring her memory. Her burial of ashes will be at the Prairie Union Cemetery just northeast of Shubert, Nebraska, immediately following her celebration of life.

Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Society-Auburn.
