Sharon Kay (Wheeler) Rothert, affectionately known as Nanny, passed away on August 10, 2024, at the age of 86 in Kyle, Texas. Born on May 7, 1938, in Howe, Nebraska, Sharon was a cherished member of her community and a devoted follower of her faith.
Sharon graduated from high school in Auburn, Nebraska, and furthered her education at the Omaha Commercial Extension School of Business. She dedicated many years of service as a Payroll Administrator at the Teacher's Retirement System of Texas before her retirement.
A steadfast member of the First Presbyterian Church in San Marcos, TX, Sharon was deeply involved in her church community. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she spent many years volunteering and serving the body of Christ.
Sharon found immense joy in the successes and achievements of her family. She was a proud resident of the Plum Creek neighborhood, where she was actively involved in various community activities. Her family was her crowning achievement, and she took great pride in watching her sons and their families grow into successful adults.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Rothert; sons, Eric Rothert and his wife Jessica of Carrollton, TX, and Kurt Rothert and his wife Mary of Canyon Lake, TX; grandchildren, Kimberly Burnette and her husband Buck, Zachary, Luke, Jacob, and Lauren Rothert; and great-grandchildren, Braxton, Beverly, Beaux Burnette, and Hallie Rothert. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Faye and Verne Wheeler, and her siblings, LaVerne, Ronny, and Don.
A grave side celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at 11am on 08/09/2025 at the Bedford Cemetery in Howe, NE. Sharon's life was a testament to her enduring faith, her commitment to her community, and her unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
