Yolanda Yusoya Kerr, née Fletcher, passed away peacefully at her home in Auburn, Nebraska on August 11, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of family. Born on April 8, 1965, in Manila, Philippines, Yolanda’s life journey took her across continents, through seasons of diligence, service, and compassion, and into the hearts of all who knew her.

Yolanda’s early years were shaped by her family’s love and the bustling energy of Manila. She blossomed further after moving to California, eventually graduating with the class of 1984 from Vista High School in Vista, California. Her journey into adulthood was marked by a profound willingness to serve others and a determination to find joy in every corner of daily life.

Her strength and gentle spirit led her to roles that reflected her desire to help those around her. For many years, she worked in housekeeping and as an aide to the elderly, dedicating her days to ensuring others could remain comfortable in their homes. While working for a lady in California, Yolanda was entrusted with the care of numerous plants and flower beds—a responsibility that blossomed into a lifelong love for gardening. This passion would travel with her, ultimately finding full expression in Auburn.

Yolanda brought beauty to Auburn as a seasonal gardener for the city, tending carefully to the flower beds of Legion Memorial Park, the Rec Complex, and the Library as a Master Gardener. Her careful hands and attentive spirit transformed public spaces into vibrant oases and cultivated a community appreciation for the quiet joys of flowers and greenery. Yolanda also brought her warmth and energy to the bustling kitchen at the Auburn Senior Center, Dutch Pantry in Auburn, and Sticks, Stones, and Bonez in Tecumseh, brightening every room she entered.

The roots Yolanda put down in Auburn reached deep into her community. A faithful member of Auburn Berean Church, she gave her voice and heart to the worship team, lifting spirits and bringing comfort through music. As a member of the Auburn Garden Club, she worked tirelessly to keep the city’s floral planters beautiful. Her creativity flourished among fellow quilters in the Quilt Guild, and her generous spirit shone through her dedication to making Prayer Shawls with the United Methodist Women, the Prayers and Quilts Club, and other clubs.

Yolanda was cherished for her boundless energy and for her consistent willingness to lend a helping hand. Whether she was sharing a smile, coaxing new life from a seedling, joining a song, or crafting a comforting shawl, Yolanda’s presence was a blessing.

Her family was the center of her world, and she leaves behind a circle of deep love—her devoted husband, Neil Kerr; her beloved mother, Amelita (Tom) Pessner; her caring father- and mother-in-law, Paul and Rita Kerr; and her wider family including sisters-in-law Barbara Fletcher, Tina Jensen, and Trisha (Paul Binfet) Kerr, brothers-in-law Ryan (Jenn) Kerr and Jared Kerr. Yolanda was also adored by nieces, nephews, cousins, and a close community of family and friends whose lives she touched deeply.

Yolanda’s memory will forever be cherished by all who survive her, as it is also tenderly held alongside recollections of those who passed before her: her dear father Bruce Fletcher and her brother Gilbert Fletcher.

Though Yolanda’s physical presence is no longer with us, the beauty she cultivated—in gardens, in friendship, in song, and in love—will continue to bloom throughout the lives she touched. She will be remembered always for her kindness, her passionate energy, and her generous heart.

A funeral for Yolanda will be Monday, August 17, 10:00 a.m. at Auburn Berean Church in Auburn. Burial will follow in Glenrock Cemetery near Brock. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday noon to 6:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 12:00 to 2:00.
