Zachariah Thomas Unruh was born February 9, 1994, in Winter Park, Florida. He was the son of Michael Joshua Unruh and Heather (De Smet) Unruh. Zach moved to Auburn, Nebraska at a young age and would live out the remainder of his life there. He attended school in Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School in 2012.
Zach worked various jobs in his lifetime, but his passion was working as an arborist. Zach began trimming trees for people in the area and had dreams of starting his own tree business in the future.
At a young age Zach was introduced to riding dirt bikes, as this would become a favorite pastime for the Unruh Family. To Zach, the love of motorcycles was synonymous with the value of spending time with family and close friends. Zach was very mechanically inclined, always tinkering with something, taking things apart to try and figure out how they worked and put them back together. He was also very musically talented, playing the guitar and singing. Zach also loved firearms and animals. He loved his family and friends which quickly became family, Zach valued the true intent of making friends and loving others freely.
On Saturday, September 7, 2024, Zach was tragically taken from this world while riding his motorcycle south of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, at the age of 30 years, 6 months, and 29 days. It is important to note that Zach was doing exactly what the Lord intended on that day. He was traveling to share his love with his companion, Emily. Zach was preceded in death by his grandmother Christina Lee Unruh.
Those left to mourn his loss include his father Josh Unruh (Barb Arens) of Beaver Lake; mother Heather Unruh (Ben Spurgeon) of Estherville, IA; sister Tabbitha (Ben Henning) of Auburn; brothers Tristan of Auburn, Elijah (Marlanna Frenzel) of Stella, Grant of Rock Port, Carter and Christian Arens of Beaver Lake; girlfriend Emily Murray of Omaha; grandparents Michael and Susan Unruh of Auburn, Raymond and Kathryn De Smet of Surprise, AZ; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
A graveside funeral service will be Saturday, September 14, 10:30 a.m. at Sheridan Cemetery of Auburn. Family and motorcycle riders will meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. for a procession to the cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
